Peccaviens - Summer 2024 Developer Update

Welcome to the first Peccaviens Developer Update!

We will be talking about Peccaviens... obviously.

I was going to make this a monthly thing, but I don't develop that fast, or write that fast, so you're just gonna have to wait longer.

These updates will serve as a development update, with some added fun stuff to keep you interested.

Plan
Ok, before we show any progress, I need to explain how the development and release will work for Peccaviens.

Here is the current development plan for Peccaviens.

Note - Everything here is still subject to change!!!

As 
you can see, there are 7 sections, plus 2 sections at the start and the end. Section 1, aka "Hills", was the beta (yes, some places call it a demo, but it's more of a beta). Most things in that were in the demo are subject to change. In fact, I have already updated some of the art and map in section 1 (you will see some of this in the newer

The full release of the game will be all of the sections. I currently don't plan on releasing each section individually. 

Sections 3 - 6 will probably take the longest to make, as they probably have the most to see story wise.

I also hope to release a new demo, which will include the Prologue, Section 1 and 2. I don't have too much information on that, but just know that it is possible.

Updates to the Battle system


The battle system has been updated! The UI has been changed, new art has been added, and it overall looks cleaner!

Shown below is a side by side comparison of the old UI and the new UI.

As you can see, the textbox has been moved and shrunk, the battle menu has been moved and has a new "Defend" option, there is a new background, and the health bar has been changed. 

The background is actually different for each enemy, so it stays fresh. 

Oh yeah, the defend button! The defend button is used to raise the players defense in that turn. This option will be different for every party member, and will raise different stats.

New textures for Section 1!

You can see the grass looks different, and I added some ponds and farmland!
The player also looks different.

Future Plans
So, what's next? 

I will probably finish writing the story, and make some adjustments to the already existing content in the game. Then, I will continue to work on Section 2 and the prologue simultaneously.

I will also put the game onto more platforms other than itch.io, so if you want the game on any platforms, leave your ideas in the comments!
